Product Overview

Gut Restore for Cats is a unique fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) in a capsule designed to restore cat health. Convenient capsules are an alternative to surgical FMT, which is equally effective but far more invasive. More powerful than probiotics and prescription diets, because seeding the gut with beneficial, cat-specific microbes helps restore it to a more balanced state.

Addresses chronic digestive issues and skin conditions in cats, including diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, itchy skin, and atopic dermatitis.

Not magical but good product

My cat has lymphoma history, It really helped with his microbiome after all the meds he had to took. What really made his diarrhea stop is allergy test, it helped us choose right food (farmina gastrointestinal for us). Still buying this product and giving him ever other day.

Hi Ülviyye,

Thank you for sharing your kitty's experience with our products! It's great to hear that you determined the right combination of interventions to help him feel his best.

Excellent Product

A veterinary specialist recommended this for my female cat who had elevated liver enzymes due to chronic GI issues that did not respond to SAMe or milk thistle. It successfully lowered the enzyme level and avoided fecal transplant surgery. The pills are tiny and she had no trouble swallowing them--and she's not an easy cat to pill. These FMT capsules can do a lot more than fix loose poop. Thank you Animal Biome and donor cats!

I’m very pleased with this product. My bengal cat has lymphoma cancer for over 3 years, and she is on chemotherapy pills for over three years. She has very often diarrhea and vomiting. I started using Gut Restore pills about three months ago and I see huge improvements! No more diarrhea or vomiting!
I’m very happy with the results after using those pills. Strongly recommend them.

Miracle!

My 5 month-old kitten developed terrible watery, very smelly diarrhea. She stopped eating, so we took her to the ER (weekend) and $1800 later they found nothing, but put her on antibiotics. No improvement at all. Although she did eat a bit better. I was desperate, and then I found this site. I started her on Gut Restore and s. boulardii+fos. Within 7 days her poops were perfectly normal. So thankful for these products! I’ve told my vet about it, and he’s going to order some as well for his patients.

Restore has helped my cat's IBD

Hi. My 7yo cat has been suffering with IBD for most of his life. It took a turn for the worse about 4 years ago and he had been on prednisolone nearly every day since. We experimented with different dosages to try to give him the lowest amount possible, but it always ended up in a flare. So I asked my vet for alternatives and she suggested Gut Restore. He started taking Gut Restore daily in March 2026 along with the pred, and he still takes the Restore every day. But we've been able to taper his pred to 1/2 tablet every 4 days. No flares! The vet did an ultrasound and said his intestines look the best that they ever have. We searched hard for a food that he could eat and found Smalls, which also gets some credit for his improvement. But the Smalls alone was not enough to stop the flares, which he would have about every 4-6 weeks. Since he's been on Restore, there have been no flares. This is definitely working for him and he'll probably be on it for the rest of his life. I pray Animal Biome does not change the product in any way. It has truly improved my cat's quality of life.

Absolutely helped - Highly Recommend

I can't recommend this product enough. Our sweet 7-month-old kitten, Mabel, had been struggling with everything from explosive diarrhea to extremely soft stools for months. After having her stool tested at the vet, it turned out she had an imbalance of bad gut bacteria. My vet suggested Animal Biome Gut Restore, and I’m so glad they did!

I opted for the 60-day bottle based on a few reviews that mentioned it might take longer than 30 days for full results, and I’m really happy I did. We gave Mabel the supplement for about 40 days, and we saw a significant improvement. Her stools gradually firmed up, and we noticed the changes were more noticeable over time, not immediate, but consistent progress. Patience is key, but the results were worth it.

We also put her on a gastrointestinal diet alongside the supplement, which I think helped. After finishing the treatment, I ordered the at-home fecal test kit from Animal Biome to check her progress, and I was thrilled to see much improvement with no harmful bacteria present.

The pills themselves are easy to administer, about half the size of a regular human capsule, which made it simple to give to Mabel. I coated them in a little wet food to make them slippery, and she swallowed them with no problem. I’m also lucky enough to have experience pilling my cats, so that definitely helped.

If only I had known about this product when my soul cat was alive. He suffered from IBD, and I truly believe this could have helped resolve it from the start. Unfortunately, he passed away from complications, but I’ll always be grateful that this helped Mabel.

If your pet has gut issues, I highly recommend giving this a try!

My Maine Coon kitten has Tritrichomonas foetus

My five month old kitten who came from a cattery in Ukraine had diarrhea and I couldn’t figure out what was wrong. I tried everything until my veterinarian suggested we do a very expensive fecal test called PCR, and he ended up with this rare parasite. After learning that I was desperate to help my sweet boy gain weight and stop the horrible diarrhea… so with a combination of oral medicine which came with risk and not a for sure cure, along with using, Gut Maintenance, Feline Gut Soothe and Gut Restore my boy has now gained weight and is up to 13 lbs at 8 months old. I’ve notice his coat is shinny and he is filling out beautifully and finally has firmer stool. He is doing so well now and my veterinarian agreed that animal biome would be very helpful product for his condition. So I feel you can’t go wrong purchasing these wonderful products for your animals. They are expensive, but worth every penny! Thank you animal biome great products! 🙏🐾

Stage three rental disease now stabilized

I would like to thank thosr responsible for creating this product for helping me to prolong the life of my beautiful cat. I have had him since he was one year old when he jumped into my car in an Ohio State park while we were getting ready to transport our sailboat back to Texas. He came with us & now 15 years later I am trying to save his life as long as he is a happy cat and he is! He still weighs 11 pounds, he is still enjoying playing with his toy just one toy that he loves and he is frisky and still affectionate. His coat is in good shape and he seems to be a happy cat. Between gut restore and also the product PORUS ONE I believe his expiration date has not yet arrived. I hope that he will still make it to 20. He is now 16 1/2. Yes it’s expensive but again it depends upon your priorities and when you love something you figure out how to take care of them and do what needs to be done. His vet has recently pronounced him as stabilized. That was good news. Happy new year to all of those people who created this product.

Literally saved Nell's life

My cat Nell nearly dies from a flare up of her IBS. She was leaking watery diarrhea, was severely dehydrated, and not eating. Within a week her stools were firming up and within 2 she was getting the bounce back in her step. THANK YOU!!

Excellent product

My 2 year old cat Ezra has IBD. We’ve been doing many different things that helped bring him out of a multi-symptom flare. We added Gut Restore slowly, as the instructions say, and then increased to one capsule per day. It’s a bit of a larger pill, and he wasn’t used to being pilled, but he’s so good with it. We used the product for 60 days. It is hard to say exactly what was helping to what extent as we were doing many things to help Ezra (food change, various other supplements, prednisolone), but I did notice a difference in him once we got to a regular, daily dosing with the Gut Restore. His stool was better formed and smelled much less bad. Also notable is he hasn’t thrown up in months now, and he was throwing up hairballs and regurgitating food pretty much daily. He also seems to have more energy. He’s only two years old, so I imagine this will be quite a journey with my sweet little chap, and I’m thankful I have science backed products like Gut Restore to help ease his symptoms, regulate his GI tract, and improve quality of life.

Gut Restore

Both of my cats have diarrhea and are taking the Gut Restore capsules. Although the capsules seem large for a cat, I’m able to put them in the back of my cat’s mouth and give them easily. The Gut Restore hasn’t helped resolve the diarrhea but I’m hoping it’s helping in some way.

Did not work.

Unfortunately this product did not work for my little guy. We did 2 pills a day for a month and it actually ended up making his poop worse, not better 🫠. He has chronic kidney disease and small cel lymphoma cancer in his GI so not sure if this has anything to do with it. We were really hoping he’d improve. We also give our boy RX Clay and Psyllium Husk daily, otherwise he will have straight up liquid diarrhea.

thank you for healing my cat

Its about time to write a review on this product . Its almost one year since i used this on my cat for his diareea .
We fought diareea for 4 years , trying everything , and nothing worked , until i decided to do an animalbiome gut test to find out what was going on ( he had kinda high Clostridium Perfringens , wich explained his sympthoms and also had missing bacteria). After i got the result , i started him on gut restore . It didnt work right away , he couldnt handle 2 pills a day either , but i did the treamtent with 1 pill/day for 30 days , together with S. Boulardii like you recommended . After that I retested and the result was much better ... still had a bit of trouble with diareea after the treatment , but i continued with S Boulardii for a long time , and now hes cured, no more diareea for months .
All i can say is thank you so much for saving my cat . Thank you for your products, they amazing, and also thank you for the support during the process .
I highly reccomend this .

Literally saved my cat's life!

My cat was diagnosed with IBD about 4 years ago. At that time, he was about 9 pounds. We tried every special protein food available, but by this May, he had dropped below 6 pounds. I was afraid he wouldn't be with me much longer. That's when my vet did some research and discovered this product. I immediately started him on 1 capsule per day. He gained almost a pound over the next 3 months. About 6 weeks ago, I started him on 2 capsules a day. He's still gaining weight and his litter box is looking much better. Thanks to your company for a product that works, is safe, and well tolerated. Moose feels much better and I'm a happy cat mom.

A miracle!

I work in GI and in humans we do fecal transplant all the time. When my 3 legged kitty started having GI issues and lost over 2 pounds, we ran lots of tests and did diet changes, but he still had liquid pouring out of his bottom. I ordered this hoping for a miracle and I got one. Within 4 days of taking a daily capsule he had his first solid stool in months. Every poop since for the last week has been a solid stool as well! No more crying in the litter pan over his sore bottom. He has also gained just over a pound back in less than a week! I’m so grateful for this product. ❤️

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a fecal microbiota transplant (FMT)?

A fecal microbiota transplant (FMT), also called fecal transplant, is the transfer of stool from a healthy donor to the GI tract of a sick recipient. The stool from the donor contains a diverse, well-functioning community of bacteria that take up residence in the recipient’s gut. FMT is the best known approach for restoring a balanced gut microbiome, and has proven to be an effective treatment in both humans and companion animals.

FMT has been used for hundreds of years in veterinary medicine and for over a thousand years in human medicine. Though modern regulatory entities like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are still determining how to classify it, FMT continues to demonstrate beneficial results for a growing list of health conditions. For example, FMT is routinely used to treat Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) infections. And it provides a promising solution for the low gut bacterial diversity associated with Crohn’s disease (one form of IBD).

What are Gut Restore/FMT capsules?

An FMT can be delivered via colonoscopy or enema, but for cats and dogs, those procedures generally require sedation. Gut Restore for Cats is an oral capsule that gives your cat the benefits of FMT without the need for surgery or sedation. Containing a proprietary mixture of carefully screened, cryoprotected, freeze-dried donor stool, the Gut Restore capsules offer a noninvasive, affordable, at-home alternative for cats suffering from digestive, skin, or immune system issues.

How can Gut Restore improve my cat’s health?

By seeding your cat’s microbiome with all the right bacteria in the right proportions, the capsules can help reestablish balance and resolve symptoms. When cats with digestive symptoms, skin issues, or immune system problems are missing certain important gut bacteria, we need to add those missing members to the microbiome and help the new populations grow and thrive.

Gut Restore provides a whole community of healthy cat-specific microbes. The capsule’s delayed-release coating prevents it from dissolving until it reaches the intestines, where the contents “seed” your cat’s gut with a diverse array of healthy bacteria, restoring any missing groups.

Where do you get material for Gut Restore?

The fecal material in Gut Restore for Cats is derived from stool donated by healthy pet cats that live in homes and have been carefully screened for health, age, fecal consistency, behavior, and microbiome composition (based on DNA sequencing).

Donor stool samples are submitted for parasite and pathogen screening to the Idexx Reference Laboratories, the leading veterinary diagnostics company, which has stringent quality control guidelines and well-validated standard operating procedures.

All cat donor material is regularly screened for parasites and pathogens:

Cats are screened for the following pathogens via PCR: Clostridium perfringens Enterotoxin Gene, Feline coronavirus, Tritrichomonas foetus, Campylobacter coli, Campylobacter jejuni, Feline panleukopenia virus, Clostridium perfringens Alpha Toxin, Cryptosporidium, Salmonella spp, Toxoplasma gondii, Giardia

Cats are screened for the following parasites via ELISA: Giardia, Hookworms, Whipworms, Roundworms

Cats are screened for ova and parasites using fecal flotation.

Is the supplement right for my cat?

An extremely wide range of cats have benefited from Gut Restore, ranging in age from 2 months to 20 years. The vast majority of cats see improvement in their digestive issues, food allergies and intolerances, and/or skin issues.

While this supplement is natural and intended to gently repopulate the microbiome, it does contain high numbers of healthy bacteria that can be overwhelming to medically unstable cats. If your cat is severely underweight or requires frequent hospitalization, we recommend checking with your veterinarian to see if Gut Restore is right for your cat.

Can I open or crush the capsules to mix the powder with food?

For maximum effectiveness, Gut Restore capsules should be given whole. Each capsule has a special coating that protects the healthy microbes inside from the stomach acid. The capsule opens once it reaches the intestines.

Can I continue my cat's other medications and supplements?

In general, medications and supplements can be continued while taking Gut Restore, with the exception of highly concentrated bacterial probiotics (e.g. Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Enterococcus).

The yeast probiotic, S. boulardii, can be used with Gut Restore because it supports beneficial cat-specific bacteria. We always recommend speaking with your veterinarian before starting a new supplement.

Will Gut Restore help my cat?

Our research shows that approximately 83% of cats taking Gut Restore experience noticeable symptom improvement after 4 weeks of continuous use. Please be aware that it can take up to 12 weeks to start seeing improvement. Every cat is different, and Gut Restore is not effective for every cat.

Is Gut Restore sensitive to hot or cold temperatures potentially encountered during shipping?

Gut Restore is shelf-stable, and remains effective after brief periods of exposure to both heat and cold, such as conditions encountered during standard shipping or temporary mailbox storage. While we recommend storing in a cool, dry place to mitigate humidity, short-term temperature fluctuations will not compromise product integrity.
