We are looking for local healthy cats and dogs in or near Alameda, Oakland, or Berkeley, California to participate in our donation program. Sick pets around the world could benefit from your healthy pet’s poop!
How It Works

1. Become a Donor
- Complete a questionnaire about your pet
- Pass a series of screening tests

2. Collect Poop
- Leave bagged daily “donations” in a provided cooler outside your residence
- An Animal Biome courier retrieves your pet's donations each day
- Receive $100 via PayPal every month

3. Help Sick Pets
- Receive regular gut health testing to monitor health
- Work with a knowledgeable team of pet lovers

Why Are We Interested In Healthy Pet Poop?
Trillions of bacteria and other important microbes live along the intestinal tracts of healthy pets. These microbes play a critical role in an animal’s health, impacting nutrient absorption, immune function, disease prevention, and more.
There are many health conditions that are related to an imbalance in the gut bacteria in cats and dogs. Unfortunately, these conditions are quite common. About one in three pets suffers from symptoms driven by imbalances in the microbiome. This includes symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and itchy skin. Restoring healthy gut bacteria can help reduce these symptoms and drastically improve quality of life for sick pets.
A healthy community of gut bacteria can be transferred to a sick cat or dog through a fecal transplant, which we can do through an easy-to-administer pill.
